DIGNITY
Dignity is a simple word but powerful concept that refers to a person’s sense of self-respect and value, as well as the respect they receive from others. At KIN, we place treating others with dignity as our top priority. We believe that everyone, without exception, deserves to be treated with dignity and respect.
Currently, we have a distribution center located in downtown Crystal Lake in a converted garage in a back alley. The building is not ideal, being cold and with an awkward layout and location. Nevertheless, when families come in, they are treated with care and compassion by our volunteers. They are given space to shop for what they need, without being judged or looked down upon. We often receive feedback about how well the families were treated, and how it made them feel supported and encouraged. We are proud that our work at KIN helps families stand a little taller and feel more confident.
We are excited to announce that we are opening a new store, The Bridge, which is bigger, easier to find, and more like a real store. We can’t wait to welcome our first group of kids and caregivers to our new location, where we will continue to provide them with the dignity and respect they deserve.
We are grateful for all the support and donations that we receive, which enable us to continue our mission of helping families in need. Without your generosity, we would not be able to make a difference in so many lives. Thank you for supporting KIN and helping us to support others with the dignity and respect they deserve.
If you would like to continue to help us in our mission, please consider donating today.

This is an absolute God send. As newer foster parents, but having been around the system for nearly 50 years I can say with confidence that this organization nurtures something that can seem to or even be rare in foster care: a unified heartbeat that genuinely pulsates with real, palpable compassion for all involved.
